Montag is someone who is putting up a face of happiness but really isn't happy. "It never went away, that. smile, it never ever went away, as long as he remembered."
The plot of Young Goodman brown is about a man who is a simple man who is trying to get home by going through the woods. He then encounters the devil who claims he is an old friend. Inside the woods he also sees all the towns people and his wife but everyone is like a alternative version of themselves including Goodman's wife. He wakes up in the town and everything looks normal not like how it was in the woods but Goodman goes on to live uneasy and skeptical of what he saw in the woods.
The effects of Clarisse showing up into the story are making guy notice stuff that he hasn't noticed also she helps make Montag become for self aware and self conscious. My first impression is that she seems to know way to much and be too observant within the story which is why in the story she seems to be strange.
Fire is described as something that is looked up upon it is also described as it being a person since it eats things, also is described as it being able to blacken an then change objects. In the beginning of the story fire is seen as helpful since it is helping to destroy something in this case fire is used to help destroy books which in the story are seen as something that is bad.
